I am thinking to install windows 8 and have got ISO file of windows. But I have a doubt, Does just burning this ISO file into a blank DVD make the disc bootable?

Burning the CONTENTS, of the ISO will. Don't burn the ISO to the DVD itself, it will be useless.

I was going to say, you could have also unzipped the ISO file with a program such as WinRAR, then put it all on a Flash drive and booted from that too. It would save you the trouble of burning a disc.

You could have simply used a program like power iso to burn the image file. It is easy actually to use it and has worked for on several occasions.
