Everyone says that Windows 7 is the best operating system available right now despite all the new ones coming out. Is this really true? Does it really compete well against things like Windows 8?

Should I downgrade my Windows 8 laptop to Windows 7? Is there any benefit to it? Thanks!

I am currently using Windows 7 and prefer it to all other versions including Windows 8. I think Windows 8 has really been designed with touchscreen devices in mind and I don't have a touchscreen laptop or computer. I did try out Windows 8 but just didn't like it.

This! There are some features that are nice about Windows 8 but as a whole I don't enjoy it as much as Windows 7, though I did give a try. I do think it's more geared towards other interfaces.

Windows 7 is quite okay except that some old programs wouldn't run properly. For those old programs to run we have an old computer with an XP in the store room that serves as a lab pc for that purpose. Since we cannot just install any operating system in our office computer, I cannot upgrade it to Windows 8.
