I do a lot of work online and am sometimes concerned about the safety of my computer. I use AVG, but I am wondering what other steps I should take to protect my computer from malware and other nasty things.

AVG is usually a pretty good antivirus. You should also ensure that Windows firewall is switched on in your control panel (assuming you're not using a different firewall program). You may also want to use an anti-spyware program such as Spyware Doctor or Malware Bytes, just for the extra bit of security. You should also regularly clean out your cookies, cache and temporary files - if you don't know how, this can be done with a free program called CCleaner.
