In the age of being online spied on by companies and government, people want to make sure they cover they privacy as much as they can.

Which antivirus program do you recommend as most private and respectful?
I have got Microsoft Security Essentials and Avast but I'd rather have something paid for.

I use Norton Symantec as my anti-virus. So far, privacy and security are not an issue. It quietly runs in the background so the memory it consumes is very minimal. Together with the anti-virus, I use the Symantec Endpoint Encryption Client. It is an application that secures your external disk from your computer. It automatically encrypts the files being transferred to the external disk, except audio files, video files and images. A portable SEE application is copied as well to the external disk so that the user will be able to decrypt the file from another computer.
