Although watching video content on large-screen mobile devices like the new iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and all iPads is great, having just a single HD movie can take up 4GB of internal memory. Needless to say, it wouldn’t be long before you fill your device with media and you’re forced to delete videos for that new app or game that you’d like to download. There are a few ways of doing so, depending on the type of video you’re looking to delete.
How to delete videos that you’ve shot with your iPhone and iPad:
Follow these steps to remove videos that you’ve shot with your device’s camera:
1. Open the Photos app and locate the video(s) that you’d like to delete.
Tip: If you’d like to see all your videos in one place, go to Albums and open the Videos album.
2.1. If you want to delete a single video, click on it and tap on the trashcan button. When a confirmation popup appears, choose Delete Video.
2.2. If you want to delete multiple videos, tap the Select button in the top right and tap on each video you’d like to delete. When you’ve created your selection, choose the trashcan button and when the confirmation popup appears, Choose Delete.
How to remove video purchases from your iPhone or iPad using the Settings app:
By following these steps you’ll be able to delete all video content that wasn’t shot on your device. This includes Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos and Home Videos. Home Videos are videos synced via iTunes.
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Tap on General, followed by Usage.
3. Tap on Manage Storage that’s under the Storage section.
4. Tap on Videos. You’ll see a list of all of your videos neatly organized by type.
5. Swipe left to reveal the delete option for videos and tap the red Delete button.
Tip: TV Shows allow you to delete specific episodes by tapping on the TV Show title and season and then swiping left to delete individual episodes.
How to remove video purchases from your iPhone or iPad using the Videos app:
Same as above, these steps will show you how to remove all video content that wasn’t shot on your device. This includes Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos and Home Videos. Home Videos are videos synced via iTunes.
1. Open the Videos app.
2. Select the type of videos you’d like to delete: Movies, TV Shows, Music Videos or Home Videos.
Tip: If you don’t have any purchases for a given type of video, you may not see its category.
Another Tip: Not everything you see in Videos is necessarily taking up space on your iPhone or iPad. If you see a cloud icon in the lower right corner of the artwork, this means that the particular video is available for streaming and takes no space on your device. If you’d like to hide those iTunes purchases, go to Settings followed by iTunes & App Store. Once there, uncheck Videos in the Show All section.
3. Tap the Edit button at the top right corner of the screen.
4. Press the small x button on the cover of the video you’d like to delete. Confirm the deletion when prompted.
Tip: You can also remove specific TV Show episodes by going into the show and swiping left on the episode you’d like to delete and pressing the Delete button.
