How to factory reset your iPhone 6

First of all a factory reset will completely wipe the data off of your iPhone 6! So unless you backup your pictures, videos, music, contacts, or anything else that you’ve modified on your iPhone 6 it will be lost forever! You also have two different methods of preforming the factory reset process which can be found below under the appropriate headings.

Also there are many reasons as to why you would want to restore iPhone 6, but here we’ll just include a few of them: If you decided to return the phone, if you decided to give the phone away to a family member or friend, or if you caught any sort of malware or virus through either unauthorized software/simply browsing the web. Anyway’s let’s get to the actual restore process.

How to backup my iPhone 6 with iCloud

Before you can perform this backup method you need to ensure you have iCloud setup properly. Once you do you may proceed.

  • First locate and open up your Settings application.
  • Scroll down until you see the iCloud option and open that up.
  • Here you enable the types of data you want backed up by swiping each choice to the right.

Now once you have decided on what you exactly want to be backed up you can restore your iPhone 6 back to factory settings by following the menu reset method below.

  • First thing you want to do is head on over to your Settings application and open that up.
  • Now scroll down until you get to the General option and tap it.
  • Once again scroll down until you see the option Reset and tap it as well.
  • Now choose Reset All Content and Settings.
  • Now tap Erase iPhone.
  • Then once again tap Erase iPhone again to confirm your selection.
  • Now input your Apple password for the Apple ID required on the device.
  • After your password has been typed in now tap Erase for the final time. (There’s no going back now!)
  • Now your iPhone 6 will begin its factory reset process.

Once the factory reset process has been completed it’ll be as good as new and you’ll have the option to either Set Up as a New iPhone or Restore From a Backup.

How to backup my iPhone 6 with iTunes

  • Plug your iPhone 6 into your computer with the USB cable provided.
  • Launch iTunes if it has not already opened.
  • On the left side of your screen you will see your phone under Devices.
  • If your iTunes is set to automatically sync when the device is connected allow it to first transfer over any changes.
  • If it isn’t set to automatically sync press the Sync button in the bottom-right corner of the Summary tab in iTunes.

Once your iPhone 6 has finished syncing you can follow the steps below.

  • Plug your iPhone 6 into your computer with the USB cable provided.
  • Launch iTunes if it has not already opened.
  • On the left side of your screen you will see your phone under Devices.
  • Open the information page and click on the Restore button.
  • To continue you will have to agree to the warnings that iTunes will be erasing all of the data on your phone.
  • Click on the Restore button once more to begin the factory reset. (There’s no going back now!)
  • Now you just have to sit back and wait for iTunes to finish to finish the reset process! (Ensure you don’t unplug your iPhone under any circumstances while the reset is in progress!)

Once the factory reset process has been completed it’ll be as good as new and you’ll have the option to either Set Up as a New iPhone or Restore From a Backup.
